Today 1/2/09
Come and join us today and find out how you too can be
Rescured and Set Free.

9.30 A.M
Serman "Rescued & Set Free"Text: Romans 7:24-8:2

5P.M. Rev Terry Flanagan from Macarthur CRCA will lead us in worship.

FOR YOU TO PONDER ..... AND APPLY !!!!!
In writing on the Heidelberg Catechism Lord's Day 23
(and what a brilliant gospel summary that is !)
Rev Herman Hoeksema writes the following in his book
"The Triple Knowledge" ( see Q/A 2).
He is discussing the christian's dual awareness of their sin
(including its sad continuation) and of God's redeeming work
in Christ applied in the heart, mind and life of the believer.
In other words he is discussing 2 of the 3 things we must know
to live and die in the joy of the comfort of the gospel ;;;
1. How great our sin and misery is; and 2. How we are set free
from all our sins and misery.(Q/A 1)
He writes "these two witnesses, the one of our natural conscience,
the other of our liberated conscience in the Spirit of Christ,
are not of equal value and power. The justified believer does not say:
I am both righteous and unrighteous, acquitted and condemned,
worthy of eternal death and an heir of eternal life.
On the contrary, the verdict of justification,
wrought by the Spirit of Christ, through the gospel,
in his heart, is completely victorious, overcomes, transcends,
swallows up the accusing testimony of his natural conscience.
Standing before the tribunal of the sole Judge of heaven and earth,
by faith, he declares: 'Though I have sinned and do sin,
YET I am perfectly righteous before the judgement seat of God.'...
The deep reason for this victory of faith is that it clings
to God Who justifies the ungodly.
Justification is the forgiveness of sins.
It is the adoption unto sons of God."
The glorious gospel truth expressed in Lord's Day 23 is fuel
for the fire of the 3rd thing we must know to live and die in
the joy of gospel comfort ..3. How we are to thank God for
such deliverance.
May we all enter into what it really means to rejoice in the
Lord and to live accordingly!!

Our New Pastor

Our New Pastor has arrived and has completly settled into his new home with his wife Sandy. On the 7th February, we had a special service of Installation, which was well attended not only my our own members, but guest from other congregations, Ministers of neighbouring churchs from the St Marys Minister faternity, and a special
guest, Jim Aitken, our Mayor.
The service was followed by an afternoon tea, and despite the extremely hot day, most people stayed and enjoyed the fellowship along with the iced coffee and lots of great cakes.
Our Pastor brings to us a vibrant preaching style and a new sence of direction.
